our story

What began as a group of six friends ministering together, holding Journey of The Heart Retreats and Worship Nights, has become the seedbed from which a church has grown. With the same roots - friends in love with Jesus dreaming of seeing our city and our nation and the nations of the world changed by the love of God. We have loved the journey so far and are so excited for this new season as a church community. We can only wonder what is next in God’s unfolding story.

We are meeting in our homes in Rosebank, Johannesburg until we find a venue and if you’d like to visit, we’d love to have you!

our dream

"Your kingdom come, Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven" - Matt 6:10

This is our starting point. Because of Jesus we are welcomed home to the Father as beloved sons and daughters. He has forgiven us, taken our shame and welcomed us into the embrace of Father, by His Spirit. This is where we dream again, hope again and live again. Jesus is our Home. We open our lives for Jesus to make even more real to us the extravagant Gospel of Grace, the embrace of a perfect and good Father, and living our everyday lives in friendship with the Holy Spirit. Our prayer is that we would dare to believe that God is who He says He is and that we are who He says we are: beloved sons and daughters.

"On earth as it is in heaven" everyday living is where we get to experience God in every part of our lives. Every part of our ordinary lives is sacred and it is in the moments of everyday living - eating, working, family - where we get to see the beauty of God, experience the Presence of Jesus and demonstrate His Kingdom in every area of our lives. We want to see the reality of our Home in heaven expressed in every part of our lives – where we get to see Jesus and hear His voice in everything.

When the hopes and dreams of heaven collide with our hearts, we see His magnificence, as he recovers ours from the ruins of doubt, hurt, hope-deferred, apathy, confusion and pain.  Heaven, the hope of the earth, works its way into our hearts, coming against every accusation and ridicule. He recovers our magnificence as as we see His.

our values

"The more heaven comes to earth, the more earth looks like family”- Jonathan Helser

The Holy Spirit draws us into family, where we get to champion each others hearts to live whole, to be known and to pursue the dream of living the life we were created to live. We don’t follow Jesus as individuals only, but as a family of believers consumed with His love, power and presence. We long to see others come Home through Jesus to the Father.

Worship is a moment to enjoy God’s Presence together, celebrate Him and what He is doing, and revel in the affection He has for us – His children. We trust that in these moments, as He pours out His Goodness and we get swept up in Him, the reality of His Nature, His Goodnesss, Kindness and Love would leave us completely undone. We anticipate that these moments of worship would bring about healing, restoration of relationships and HOPE released for your family, community and city. For us this is not just an event – worship is our normal. A lifestyle of connection with Emmanuel, God with us.

Whole-hearted living

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" - Proverbs 4:23

The Kingdom of God is an inside-out Kingdom. We are transformed from the inside. Often our internal heart life gets set aside as unimportant in our walk with God. Our ‘head’ knowledge increases but our heart knowledge remains unchanged. Our knowledge of God is never meant to be head knowledge, but intimate knowing that transforms us from the inside out. Salvation is not meant to be a band-aid to cover the brokenness inside – but rather our friendship with Jesus is a deep TRANSFORMATION from the inside out. We want to create a culture where we understand the importance of our internal word.

We are all wells

"Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. By this he meant the Spirit" - John 7:37-38

We want to help each person to discover the well of the Spirit within their own hearts. Each one digging their own well of friendship with the Lord that can sustain them for the rest of their lives, as they become a refuge and well of revival for their families, community and city.

"Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land" – Isaiah 32

Dreaming with God

"Now we’re no longer living like slaves under the law, but we enjoy being God’s very own sons and daughters!" - Galatians 4:7

We are created for participation and partnership in the dreams on the Father’s heart. In relationship with God we get to re-imagine our worlds and partner with Him in re-creating our realities, invited to share in all the Father is saying and doing.

Rob and Kirstin carry a vision to see the Kingdom of Heaven invade Johannesburg, the continent and the nations, and planted The Collective Church in May 2018. The Gospel of extravagant Grace in Jesus has completely changed them forever and they long to see others rooted and thriving in that same Goodness.

Pioneers, entrepreneurs and fierce lovers of God, Rob and Kirstin Maud have been married for almost 20 years. They have three wonderful children, Madison, Milla and Jude. These dynamic leaders are passionate about family and believe that family is the expression of Heaven on earth. Creating home and having friends and family around their table, to feast and connect with is an expression of their hearts. They love adventures, whether a trip to a global destination or just down the road, you’ll find with them their three children, their favourite fellow-travellers.

They are passionate about dreaming with God and seeing those dreams built and established. Rob started his first business in 2002 and both he and Kirstin are founders of Motherland Coffee Company.

· We believe there is only one true God who is the eternal King, Creator and
Redeemer of all that is. He is perfectly holy, just, loving and truthful. He has
revealed Himself to be the Eternal Triune God (one being in three persons) – God
the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

· We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the
virgin Mary. We believe in His sinless life, in His miracles, His vicarious and
atoning death through the shedding of His blood on the cross. He was crucified
for our sins, died, was buried, resurrected and ascended into heaven, and is now
alive today in the presence of God the Father, and in His people. He is "true God"
and "true man".

· We believe that the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative
Word of God.

· We believe that humanity was created in the image of God to know and enjoy
Him yet we willfully rejected the Lordship and glory of God for which we were
intended. Because of this, sickness, death and judgment entered the world and
now creation experiences the effects and consequences of sin.

· We believe we are saved by God's grace, through faith in the person and work
of Jesus Christ. Anyone can be restored to fellowship with God through
repenting, believing and receiving Jesus as their Savior and Lord. The Holy Spirit,
convicts, regenerates, justifies, and adopts us as we enter the kingdom of God as
His sons and daughters.

· We believe in water baptism for believers, and the sanctifying power of the
Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live holy and
minister supernaturally. The baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 1:4-8
and 2:4 is poured out on believers that they might have power to be witnesses.

· We believe that the victorious redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides
freedom from the power of the enemy– sin, lies, sickness and torment.

. We believe the Church exists to carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ and further
advance His kingdom by undoing the works of the enemy, preaching and living
the good news of God's love, and discipling the nations – baptizing and teaching
them to love and obey God.

· We believe in the ever-increasing government of God and in the glorious visible
return, in power and glory, of our Lord Jesus Christ for His overcoming bride –
His church.

· We believe that heaven and hell are real and that there will be a resurrection of
the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting

· We believe that the Church consists of all who put their faith in Jesus Christ
and we believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
