about

We are a community in love with Jesus, dreaming of seeing our city, our nation and the nations of the world changed by the love of God. We are from different walks of life, made up of different cultures and colours but all united with this passion: to see His Kingdom come in every area of our lives.

Our community gathering rhythm is Collective “Gathering Sundays” and “Home Church Sundays”.

On Collective Gathering Sundays our whole Collective family will be gathering in one location - The Peartree, 41 St Albans Avenue, Craighall Park. This is a family reunion of sorts, where we enjoy God’s Presence together – connect, receive teaching, worship, encourage and inspire one another.

On Home Church Sundays, The Collective Church gathers across the city in homes. These gatherings provide the context for us to share in each other’s journey with the Lord, life on life, and for Jesus to transform our hearts, and from there our homes, community, city and nation. Home resources are supplied for these Sundays.

Home church teaches us to be a family, where everyone is seen and heard, gives and receives with Jesus at the center.

Please check our calendar for gathering dates. If you would like to join a home church gathering, please e-mail us at info@thecollectivechurch.co.za.

our dream

HEAVEN IS HOME

"Your kingdom come, Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven" - Matt 6:10

This is our starting point. Because of Jesus we are welcomed home to the Father as beloved sons and daughters. He has forgiven us, taken our shame and welcomed us into the embrace of Father, by His Spirit. This is where we dream again, hope again and live again. Jesus is our Home. We open our lives for Jesus to make even more real to us the extravagant Gospel of Grace, the embrace of a perfect and good Father, and living our everyday lives in friendship with the Holy Spirit. Our prayer is that we would dare to believe that God is who He says He is and that we are who He says we are: beloved sons and daughters.

HEAVEN-ON-EARTH LIVES

"On earth as it is in heaven" everyday living is where we get to experience God in every part of our lives. Every part of our ordinary lives is sacred and it is in the moments of everyday living - eating, working, family - where we get to see the beauty of God, experience the Presence of Jesus and demonstrate His Kingdom in every area of our lives. We want to see the reality of our life-union with Jesus expressed in every part of our lives, committed to be a family fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit – led, empowered, and transformed by Him, carrying the Presence of the Living God in us.

our values

REVIVAL

“Business as usual is not going to cut it – only a family hosting the actual fire of the Living God is going to do this thing” - Adam Cox

We are living in what we believe to be a great global awakening. The Holy Spirit is reviving His Church, and this new ‘wineskin’ is not a model/ way we gather, but rather a family fully surrendered to Jesus. Our heart’s expectation is that this unfolding revival will not only be manifest in our church gatherings, but even more so in every area of our lives! We want to be part of a movement where God’s Presence grows even more powerful as we His sons and daughters, take His Presence into our world.

Family

"The more heaven comes to earth, the more earth looks like family”- Jonathan Helser

The Holy Spirit draws us into family, where we get to champion each others hearts to live whole, to be known and to pursue the dream of living the life we were created to live. We don’t follow Jesus as individuals only, but as a family of believers consumed with His love, power and presence. We long to see others come Home through Jesus to the Father.

Worship

Worship is a moment to enjoy God’s Presence together, celebrate Him and what He is doing, and revel in the affection He has for us – His children. We trust that in these moments, as He pours out His Goodness and we get swept up in Him, the reality of His Nature, His Goodness, Kindness and Love would leave us completely undone. We anticipate that these moments of worship would bring about healing, restoration of relationships and HOPE released for your family, community and city. For us this is not just an event – worship is our normal. A lifestyle of connection with Emmanuel, God with us.

Whole-hearted living

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" - Proverbs 4:23

The Kingdom of God is an inside-out Kingdom. We are transformed from the inside. Often our internal heart life gets set aside as unimportant in our walk with God. Our ‘head’ knowledge increases but our heart knowledge remains unchanged. Our knowledge of God is never meant to be head knowledge, but intimate knowing that transforms us from the inside out. Salvation is not meant to be a band-aid to cover the brokenness inside – but rather our friendship with Jesus is a deep TRANSFORMATION from the inside out. We want to create a culture where we understand the importance of our internal word.

We are all wells

"Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. By this he meant the Spirit" - John 7:37-38

We want to help each person to discover the well of the Spirit within their own hearts. Each one digging their own well of friendship with the Lord that can sustain them for the rest of their lives, as they become a refuge and well of revival for their families, community and city.

"Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land" – Isaiah 32

Dreaming with God

"Now we’re no longer living like slaves under the law, but we enjoy being God’s very own sons and daughters!" - Galatians 4:7

We are created for participation and partnership in the dreams on the Father’s heart. In relationship with God we get to re-imagine our worlds and partner with Him in re-creating our realities, invited to share in all the Father is saying and doing.

our STATEMENT OF BELIEF

· We believe there is only one true God who is the eternal King, Creator and
Redeemer of all that is. He is perfectly holy, just, loving and truthful. He has
revealed Himself to be the Eternal Triune God (one being in three persons) – God
the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

· We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the
virgin Mary. We believe in His sinless life, in His miracles, His vicarious and
atoning death through the shedding of His blood on the cross. He was crucified
for our sins, died, was buried, resurrected and ascended into heaven, and is now
alive today in the presence of God the Father, and in His people. He is "true God"
and "true man".

· We believe that the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative
Word of God.

· We believe that humanity was created in the image of God to know and enjoy
Him yet we willfully rejected the Lordship and glory of God for which we were
intended. Because of this, sickness, death and judgment entered the world and
now creation experiences the effects and consequences of sin.

· We believe we are saved by God's grace, through faith in the person and work
of Jesus Christ. Anyone can be restored to fellowship with God through
repenting, believing and receiving Jesus as their Savior and Lord. The Holy Spirit,
convicts, regenerates, justifies, and adopts us as we enter the kingdom of God as
His sons and daughters.

· We believe in water baptism for believers, and the sanctifying power of the
Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live holy and
minister supernaturally. The baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 1:4-8
and 2:4 is poured out on believers that they might have power to be witnesses.

· We believe that the victorious redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides
freedom from the power of the enemy– sin, lies, sickness and torment.

. We believe the Church exists to carry on the ministry of Jesus Christ and further
advance His kingdom by undoing the works of the enemy, preaching and living
the good news of God's love, and discipling the nations – baptizing and teaching
them to love and obey God.

· We believe in the ever-increasing government of God and in the glorious visible
return, in power and glory, of our Lord Jesus Christ for His overcoming bride –
His church.

· We believe that heaven and hell are real and that there will be a resurrection of
the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting
death.

· We believe that the Church consists of all who put their faith in Jesus Christ
and we believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
